My husband and I spent two nights up here with our dog, my brother, and his wife. If you are looking to get away from the world for a few days, this is a great spot. Everything to make meals is in the kitchen (I didn't see a microwave, though), so we brought food to make for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We brought board games and a Nintendo Switch and spent the weekend playing games and ignoring the rest of the world. There are four pairs of snowshoes, so we went snowshoeing. The dog found the path (generally), and that took us down to the lake. It was nice to be able to bring our dog. This is kind of like staying at a friend's cabin where you have to clean up after yourself a little, which is fine. Dogs aren't allowed on the furniture, so I would say it's more dog-tolerant than dog-friendly, but our pup had a great time regardless. She loved the woods and the fresh snow! This would be great for a family of four to get away for a long weekend. There are two bedrooms- one with a king bed and one with two twin beds. We were cozy and comfortable during our winter stay with the fireplace. The WiFi worked well for puttering around on our phones, and there was enough seating for everyone in the main room. I would come up here to get away from the world again!

The Grey Duck is as advertised and more! The hosts are very quick to communicate and gave us great tips to explore the area. The house itself was spotless and so cozy we didn't want to leave. It is beautifully decorated and the setting is spectacular. The screened in porch is perfect for morning coffee or a nightcap. The large windows in the living room give a full view of the gorgeous night sky that you can only see on MNs north shore. It is set on an extremely private wooded lot that is perfectly secluded. It's within driving distance of many small towns, great hiking trails and loads of outdoor activities. The Grey Duck is a perfect escape for families or couples (and dogs!). We spent only a few days here but feel so energized and relaxed we will definitely be back! The Grey Duck offers everything you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. You will not be disappointed! Can't recommend enough!

THE coolest and most beautiful off-grid cabin you will go to. The quality of this cabin is supreme. The design inside and out is exceptional. We did not want to leave! The environment is serene and so peaceful. Coming home to this cabin after a morning hike or an afternoon trip on the shore is simply the best. Beautiful craftsmanship inside and out. So incredibly comfortable to stay here. Highly recommend for anyone heading to the North Shore.

This is as advertised. Absolutely beautiful cabin off the beaten path surrounded by numerous great hiking trails. Restaurants are a short drive should you choose but the kitchen is big and perfect for cooking. The hosts include many thoughtful amenities that made the stay fun and easy. You will not regret your decision to stay here. Highly recommend!

We loved how cozy and modern Grey Duck was. The porch was our favorite place to spend our evenings. Having the state park just 2 miles down the road was extremely convenient and fun to explore. The cabin had games to play, a TV, great kitchen, and pretty much everything you needed. Overall, I would recommend staying here!
We had a wonderful 3 night visit at Grey Duck Cabin - and wish we could have stuck around for longer! The cabin is as described/pictured - clean, comfortable, cozy, and stocked with everything you might need to escape for a while. Its secluded location allowed us to experience the feeling of being in true wilderness, but close enough to civilization to grab a meal or anything else we might need. It served as a great base camp to explore the Northshore and BWCAW. We hope to have the opportunity to return and experience it in the winter!
Great time for our family of 5 and pup. Unless we drove off site, we didn’t see another soul and enjoyed connecting and recharging. Hanging out in the screen porch was a favorite! The trail to the river was amazing!
Grey Duck Cabin was AMAZING!! This place truly is a gem! From the second we got there- every little detail was unique and fun. You arrive and first fall in love with the design and decor. So many unique little touches perfectly fill this space. Then you walk down the trail they created to the river- and each twist and turn is an adorable little adventure. It’s close to drive to some great hiking trails. Our family enjoyed competing in a lot of “bag tournaments”. Dinners with a full sized kitchen to enjoy. Super comfy beds! Nice sized tv for family movie nights. So nice and private. Bring a mat for some peaceful morning yoga in the screen porch. Our gracious hosts were very quick to respond to our questions too. Being off the grid can be an adventure! It’s evident that so much thought and careful planning went into this amazing space. We loved our time here and would love to book Grey Duck again!

The cabin is absolutely amazing, we loved the remoteness and the surrounding forest. The host was really great, provided quick response to questions and good recommendations. Would highly recommend staying there, preferably long so you can enjoy the cabin and surrounding areas. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
