Tettegouche
State Park
Tettegouche State Park is one of the most popular parks along the North Shore. It is best known for its multiple large waterfalls along the Cascade Trail, miles of hiking trails overlooking the sawtooth mountains and its lakeside cliff views of Superior. The Park also features a large visitor center with nature programs and gift shop.

Temperance River
State Park
Temperance River State Park has over five thousand acres to meet your hiking needs. With easy pull over access right along the highway this is a great park to pop into to check out the winding trails of the Temperance River, the shores of Lake Superior or take a back woods hike in to the Hidden Falls.

Split Rock Lighthouse
State Park
Split Rock Lighthouse is one of the most photographed landmarks in all the state. You have the option to get to checkout the lighthouse from up close with raised views of superior or you can take in the views of the lighthouse from the lower beach. There are also trails throughout the park that will connect you right to the Superior Hiking Trail.

Superior Hiking Trail
The Superior Hiking Trail is a 310-mile trail tucked in from the North Shore that leads you through the sawtooth mountains. There are multiple entrance points scattered all over the Finland area and some of which are hiking distance from the cabin. Every State Park listed here access points through this near endless trail.

Boundary Waters Canoe Area and Wilderness
The Boundary Waters Canoe Area is known as one of the most beautiful and remote areas in the country. It offers over one million acres of canoe and portage routes with one thousand lakes to explore. We highly recommend bringing a canoe to experience one of the many serene lakes just up the road.

George Crosby Manitou
State Park
George Crosby Manitou State Parks main entrance is just two miles down the road. This park offers hiking paths to the Manitou falls and a boardwalk around Benson Lake. This is one of the most remote state parks along the North Shore so if you are looking to get off the beaten path look no further.

Superior National or Silver Bay Golf Course
For the golf enthusiast in the family there are a couple of different golf courses to choose from in the area. For a local backwoods golf course head right down the road to Silver Bay's nine hole course. Those seeking a more premier course with backdrops of superior and the option to play up to 27 different holes head over to Superior National Golf Course.
Lutsen Mountains
Lutsen Mountains offers winter and summer activities for the whole family. In the winter months you'll find the best skiing in Minnesota with over 95 mountain runs. In the summer months there are alpine slides, golf courses, and our personal favorite, the gondola rides in the summer or fall.

The North Shore
If you are looking for a bit more action, head out the North Shore for a wide variety of activities. Including a variation of restaurants and bars, plenty of hiking options, self guided waterfall tours and a limitless fun shops to checkout. Don't forget to stop by the brand new ropes course located right in Silver Bay.

Restaurants and Bars
Trestle Inn Restaurant
For a backwoods full restaurant and bar the Trestle Inn is the place to go. Built out of old railroad trestles this restaurant has the perfect rustic feel that fits the area perfectly. Eating here includes a fun dirt road drive towards boundary waters lakes and moose viewing opportunities, which makes this a great place to stop if you are looking for a pretty backroads drive.

Finland Food Options
Our Place Restaurant has a nice local vibe in town and is the only spot with breakfast. They serve American style food and have a full bar and pool table at your disposal.
Four Seasons Supper Club is open a bit later in the evening than the other bars in town. It features American style food offering more of a bar feel including juke box and a pool table.

North Shore Food options
Blue Fin Bay has a lot to offer with a full bar, specialty cocktails, a top notch chef and plenty of outdoor and indoor seating with views of Superior.
Schroeder Baking Co is a great spot if you are heading out towards the shore. Only 11 miles away and is another place you can grab some breakfast and lunch to go.
